Art Attack for Kids: The Basic Shapes

Looking for a super fun way to teach basic shapes to your toddler? Tired of using flash cards, posters and shape sorters? Then you should try this activity!

Ayesha’s Craft #1: Making a Cirle.

Ayesha’s Craft #2: Making a Square

I printed out DLTK’s Basic Shapes Craft (for age 2+) in color, cut out the body parts and instructed my daughter to paste them on a bond paper. It’s just amazing how she managed to follow my instructions like a pro. She finished two crafts in one sitting (without my help) and even wanted to do another one! But I told her it was already time for us to pick up kuya in school,  so we had to  finish our little art attack session in the yard.

Needless to say, I cherish the afternoons I spend with my daughter. Not only it is a perfect time to bond with her, it is also an opportunity for me to homeschool her. This month, I’ve started creating her Nursery Portfolio where I track her progress and keep all her activities,  crafts and what-have-yous. This is not a requirement (since she’s only turning 3 next month), but I do it anyway for my own sanity. LOL.

We will do the rest of the shapes in the coming days while incorporating ways to learn the alphabet and numbers.
